Fundamentals of Accident & Incident Investigations

Program description & objectives

This highly sort after program is part of our Leadership for Safety Excellence courses. Specifically designed for safety professionals, this course helps participants understand their role in supporting their health and safety management system. The Leadership for Safety Excellence course consists of four modules as follows: - Module 1: Supervisor’s Role - Module 2: Hazard Identification, Assessment, and Control - Module 3: Formal Workplace Inspections - Module 4: Accident/Incident Investigation The occurrence of accidents in the workplace is not an aberration. However, accidents must be reported and investigated promptly. Accidents, on the other hand, provide an important opportunity to gather essential information on how to improve the organization’s health and safety management system. This course is therefore designed to help individuals who will be investigating workplace accidents or incidents understand the purpose and process of accident or incident investigation. It ensures they understand how to recognize and distinguish between immediate (or direct) causes of accidents or incidents and the underlying (or root) causes, and how to develop recommendations for corrective actions to prevent them from recurring. Furthermore, this course takes a holistic view of accidents and incidents by analyzing and explaining the interconnected relationships between the various roles in an organization. It examines how each interconnected relationship can contribute to an accident and incident-free environment.
